Lets Race, the UK’s only full motion F1 simulator centre based in Horley, Surrey, is reminding want-to-be racing drivers that there are only a few days left to qualify for their Lets Race to Reality competition which offers drivers the opportunity to win an incredible F3 race experience with Carlin Motorsport – a prize worth over £15,000!
Run in conjunction with Carlin and the Henry Surtees Foundation, the competition, which will take racers from the simulated world to reality, is open to any budding driver over the age of 16 and features three rounds.
Round one (qualifying) takes place at Lets Race where, for just £25, participants get to challenge their driving skills in one of the centre’s 10 simulators racing the Melbourne GP circuit in Australia within a GP2 car to set their fastest lap time. The deadline for qualifying is Wednesday 30th April 2014.
Round two will see the top 10% of drivers from the qualifying round at Lets Race be invited to the renowned Buckmore Park in Kent, where several heats will whittle down the competitors to the most skilled racers on Friday 23rd May.
Five finalists will then be selected following the race at Buckmore Park and will be put through their paces at Carlin’s headquarters in Surrey allowing participants a real inside glimpse into the world of a professional racing driver. Finalists will take part in various exercises including a simulator session with a Carlin race engineer, before taking part in an interview process with racing industry professionals, including Former Formula 1 and Motorbike champion John Surtees, OBE.
The winner of Lets Race to Reality 2014 will receive a day’s testing in a Carlin Formula 3 car, complete with a dedicated team of mechanics, data engineer and race engineer.
Speaking about the competition Rupert Swallow, MD of Lets Race said:
“We are given budding drivers, gamers and enthusiasts the opportunity to experience a real racing car as driven by some of the most famous race drivers of this era. Carlin has worked with F1 drivers such as Sebastian Vettel, Max Chilton, Daniel Ricciardo and Kevin Magnussen and we are offering competitors in Lets Race to Reality the opportunity to follow in those drivers footsteps in a Carlin F3 car.”
“We are extremely proud to be offering this great opportunity with the Henry Surtees Foundation, which not only raises money from an exceptionally worthy cause but also helps young drivers through its own charity events. To have John on board with us on this exciting venture is an honour and a great addition to the final stage of the competition.”
John Surtees added, “I am very pleased to be part of Lets Race to Reality and offer competitors the chance to experience something that is normally out of reach for even the most ardent motorsport fan. Not only will they create a once in the life time experience for the lucky winner, it will also raise money for the Henry Surtees Foundation and the great causes we are sponsoring.”
