Muppet Christmas Carol tops the UK’s all time favourite Christmas film poll


Digital Spy, the UK’s biggest entertainment news site with 12m unique users, has revealed The Muppet Christmas Carol to be the favourite Christmas movie of all time.

The entertainment site, which breaks over 250 original entertainment stories a day, polled more than 10,000 of its readers to discover their top festive film. It reveals that The Muppet Christmas Carol narrowly triumphed with 18.5% of votes ahead of Home Alone's 18.3.

The 1994 family film puts a Muppet spin on Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol, casting Michael Caine as miser Ebeneezer Scrooge and Kermit the Frog as Bob Cratchit.

Will Ferrell's 2003 comedy Elf charted in third place with 8.9%, Christmas classic, It's a Wonderful Life was in fourth spot with 7.4 and action movie Die Hard, which takes place during the festive period, landed in fifth with 6.7%.
