From his early appearances on Radio 4’s On The Hour, through the graveyard shifts on Norfolk Nights to his most recent slot as the host of Mid Morning Matters, Alan Partridge has always been a radio man.
Now it is (virtually) possible to create his radio show for yourself thanks to the launch of the official Alan Partridge app, Radio Alan: The Alan Partridge Player.  The app is now available to buy on iTunes for £0.99 to coincide with the debut of Alan’s first feature film Alpha Papa in cinemas nationwide on 7th August 2013.
The app is designed to play audio clips of Alan talking ‘live’ on-air from “Mid-Morning Matters” interspersed with songs from YOUR iTunes library, creating the impression that you’re actually listening to Alan’s radio show live on North Norfolk Digital.  So as you listen to music on your iPhone, you can also ponder Alan’s talking points: “You’re stuck on a desert island and only allowed one condiment, what is it to be?”
As Partridge’s loyal fans know, Alan’s radio segues often end with him introducing a song in his own inimitable style (e.g. “Keep your clubs away from his young, it’s Seal!”) The app will recognise if you have a Seal track in your iTunes library and play that song next.
The app also has a ‘Rate My Tunes’ option, whereby Alan rates your iTunes library. If he likes your taste in music you may get a “Back of the Net!” rating that you can share with your friends on Facebook.
To enhance the app experience even further additional in-app purchases include; A ‘Partridge Playlist’ featuring some of Alan’s favourite artists and additional audio clips are available to buy for £0.99.
Radio Alan: The Alan Partridge Player was conceived by Brighton-based app development studio Touch Fantastic and developed in collaboration with Baby Cow Productions and BBC Worldwide.
