THE INTERNATIONAL HERALD TRIBUNE
LAUNCHES NEW FRIDAY FILM FEATURE

Paris, April 27, 2005: The International Herald Tribune (IHT) announced today the launch of a new weekly feature on world cinema and the international movie industry called Film. Starting this Friday, Film will provide reviews, profiles and feature articles from IHT writers and The New York Times’s award-winning film critics, as well as look at trends and issues driving the business of filmmaking around the world.

Alison Smale, managing editor of the IHT, said: "Movie coverage is already a strong part of our daily cultural offering but this new Film feature allows us to give increased emphasis to this most international of media. The global movie industry is changing on a daily basis, both commercially and in terms of subject matter and the time has come for us take a focused look at the nature of these changes."

The IHT is gearing up to provide special daily coverage of the 58th Cannes International Film Festival (May 11-22). Prominent contributors will include award-winning film critic A.O. Scott and Manohla Dargis from The New York Times as well as Joan Dupont, Doreen Carvajal and Thomas Crampton from the IHT.

Stephen Dunbar-Johnson, IHT senior vice president and commercial director, said, "We know that it is important for our international advertisers to reach our high-end readers at their most engaged and that is why exciting new features like Film are great news for our advertisers as well as our readers.”
